Notable Changes From The Previous Year
The 2024 Ascent takes a lot of the upgrades that the 2023 model received and made them standard across the line. Those include mobile compatibility (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), a redesigned front, and an 11.6-inch touchscreen display.
Performance Specs
All models share the same Subaru Boxer engine: a 2.4-L Turbocharged Direct Injection, with 260 hp, 277 ft-lb of torque and max towing of 908 kg with trailer brakes. The CVT eight-speed automatic transmission, with manual mode, is also the same across the lineup. And it delivers a fuel economy of 12.3 L / 100 km in urban areas and 9.4 L / 100 km on highways if you’re using automatic transmission. Plus, your driving experience can be enhanced with different driving modes, a standard X-MODE system and a Subaru Symmetrical Full-Time AWD system.
Design Elements
The entry-level trim comes with a three-zone automatic climate control system, heated front seats, and seat belt reminders for the second and third rows. The climate control system includes features like humidity sensors and air filtration. All models have illuminated consoles and cargo areas, as well as reading lights for the second row.
Luxury features for the flagship Premier trim in the interior design include ambient lighting, console-integrated cup holders for the second row, and a smart rearview mirror equipped with a compass and HomeLink. Seating options include cloth, leather, and genuine Nappa leather, depending on the trim.
The base model has three exterior colour options - white, black, and grey - while higher trims can also come in green or blue. All models have rear chrome badging, anti-corrosion treatment, fully automatic headlights, LED tail lights, and LED steering responsive lights. Only the flagship model has chrome door handles, chrome surround, and power-folding heated door mirrors.
The grille is the same for all trims: in hexagonal shape, with wing and trim surround. The Touring trim and higher have sound insulation on the hood, providing a quieter journey. The Convenience is also the only trim without a panoramic roof included as standard. There are 18-inch wheels for the entry-level trim and 20-inch wheels available for the rest of the lineup.
Technology And Safety Features
The Touring trim and higher come with a three-year trial subscription for Subaru Starlink Connected Services, capability for SiriusXM (no subscription included), and a proximity key. The Limited and Premier trims include a Harman Kardon sound system with 14 speakers and GPS navigation. Only the Premier trim enjoys a smart rearview mirror with Homelink and a surround-view monitor equipped with a 360-degree camera.
Many safety features are standard for all models, such as EyeSight driving assist technology, which provides adaptive cruise control with vehicle hold, lane centring and lane keep assists, pre-collision braking and throttle management, automatic emergency steering, and a wide-angle camera. Driving assist features include cruise control, trailer stability control, traction control system, and vehicle dynamics control.
