Performance Specs
All trims share the same 2.5L Direct Injection Subaru BOXER engine. It delivers 182 horsepower and 176 ft-lb of torque capacity. The Lineartronic CVT transmission is also standard. Still, there are different transmission options across the lineup.
The Touring, Sport, Limited and Premier have a seven-speed (manual mode) transmission. Only the Wilderness has an eight-speed manual transmission. All transmissions are equipped with a two-mode SI-DRIVE, with an added Sport# mode for the Sport and Wilderness. The Subaru Symmetrical Full-Time All-Wheel Drive system is standard for all trims.
Regarding fuel economy, all trims but the Wilderness deliver the same rates while using automatic transmission: 9.0L/100 km in the city and 7.2L/100 km on highways. The Wilderness is slightly more demanding, with 9.5L/100 km and 8.3L/100 km respectively. However, the Wilderness is trim with the most towing capacity: 1,360 kg, against 680 kg for the rest of the lineup.
Design Elements
All models have a seating capacity for up to five passengers. Seat coverings vary considerably across the lineup. The entry-level model has cloth upholstery for all seats. At the same time, the Touring and Sport come with premium cloth. There’s leather seating for the Limited and Premier. The Wilderness comes with an exclusive all-weather soft-touch upholstery with geometric patterns.
All models have heated front seats and also a centre console armrest. There’s also a centre folding console for the backseats and reclining seatbacks, except for the entry-level trim. Other features available for Touring and above trims include leather-wrapped and heated steering wheels. However, all models have telescoping and tilt-adjustable steering wheels. There’s an air conditioning system for all trims. Still, only Touring and above models have dual-zone systems.
All models have a chrome rear badge except for the Wilderness, which has a black-painted badge. Other exclusive features for the Wilderness include a design cladding with anodized copper and black accents (the wheel arches are also black), single-tip polished exhaust, and black door mirrors. Standard features across the lineup include matte black accents on the grille, fully automatic headlights, and LED steering responsive headlights equipped with HBA (High Beam Assist). There’s also a panoramic sunroof for everyone.
Technology And Safety
The new 2024 Subaru Forester has many technology features that are standard for everyone. For instance, all models are compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It includes a three-month trial subscription for SiriusXM satellite radio with Travel Link. The Limited and Premier also have satellite radio, with an added Traffic feature. Those two models also have a Harman Kardon premium sound system with nine speakers, while most trims have a six-speaker audio system. The entry-level trims have four speakers.
All models from Touring above have SUBARU STARLINK Connected Services. The SUBARU STARLINK has features like remote climate control, curfew alert, boundary alert, and advanced automatic collision notification.
Safety features look pretty much the same across the lineup. All trims have airbags all around the vehicle, a rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, cruise control and traction control. The EyeSight technology includes many driving assists and is also available for all models. They include adaptive cruise control, pre-collision throttle management and pre-collision braking.
