These organizations test vehicles and place them in two categories; Best Choice, with a high level of safety, and Good Choice. All the cars in either class will have these features:

 

• Electronic stability control
• Above-average reliability. This is based on the member survey conducted by CR.
• Scores from CR’s emergency handling tests. Vehicles must score average or better.
• Dry braking distances of less than 44,1 metres from 96,5 km/hr. 
• Rating from IIHS crashworthiness tests. Tests include original moderate overlap front, head restraints, and roof strength.
• A rating of four stars or better National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (if rated).
